At Yale New Haven was seen in the ED for possible head injury after a fall. Was treated in a bed in the hallway, along with several other patients. There was absolutely no privacy. The patient in the bed closest to mine had a violent cough. Contagious? In another bed nearby a woman was crying loudly, clearly in pain. No one was helping her. We were there for 6 hours. They needed to study my blood. Blood was taken and left on the back of the bed. Though we kept pointing that out to the nurses, it stayed. When they finally took it for analysis it was no good and they had to start all over again, which added another hour to our stay there. We experienced incompetence and indifference.
Are there any tools or technology being used to help with this issue?

Some individual hospitals are trying innovative approaches, although unfortunately there still seems to be a general acceptance of the issue as a new status quo.
1. Yale-New Haven shows data for 2023 (which is noted in the profile), but the data export page and everywhere else implies all data is for 2024. Not clear if the boarding times are for 2023 or 2024. 2. Is it possible to give weekday breakdown of boarding times or confidence intervals? I know in Central TX most outpatient surgeries are Mon-Thurs so our ED boarding times are much higher earlier in the week than later when beds become available. Do you see the same trend?

All of the current data on the website is for 2024. We anticipate 2025 data in the next month or two. Will try to correct any date issues.
Unfortunately, at the state level, we don't have more granular data for all hospitals. Agree this is an issue particularly with the timing of elective surgeries.
Excellent Work! I think this should be done for every state.
Great job providing this useful data. Really appreciate it!
